Minister of Finance, Davendranath Tancoo, has welcomed the successful conclusion of the International Monetary Fund’s 2026 Article IV Consultation on Trinidad and Tobago, describing it as a clear signal of renewed international confidence in the country’s economic direction just over one year after the current administration took office.
Minister Tancoo says the IMF report highlights low inflation, stable international reserves, and a strong banking sector, while projecting continued economic growth through 2026 driven by energy projects and expansion in the non-energy sector.
He says the findings reflect the government’s efforts to stabilise the economy after years of declining reserves, rising debt, and economic challenges.
The Finance Minister adds that the government remains focused on fiscal discipline, investment growth, and rebuilding public confidence in the economy.
