Prime Minister Condems Calls For Gangs To Unite Against Police

In a statement shared on her social media platforms, the Prime Minister described as “appalling” the support shown by certain groups, including members of the PNM, some union leaders, entertainers and other public figures, for protesters who, she said, were calling for the unification of violent criminal gangs to target law enforcement officers.
Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar further stated that the protest appeared aimed at intimidating prosecutorial officials and commended police officers for maintaining order and security at the scene.
The Prime Minister also called on those involved to engage in self-reflection, while assuring law-abiding citizens that the Government and law enforcement agencies remain committed to ensuring their safety.
