It continues to be a tough French Open for the world’s biggest players, with yet another top seed making an exit on Sunday.
The top seeds continue to fall early at the French Open, with four-time champion Iga Świątek going down in straight sets to Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk.
Świątek’s 25th birthday celebrations were spoilt with a 7-5, 6-1 loss to the 15th-seeded Ukrainian.
Świątek is ranked as the No. 3 seed and is the latest major winner who will not feature in the quarter-finals at Roland Garros this year, joining men’s world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic and defending women’s champion Coco Gauff in bowing out over the last three days.
It leaves No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka as the favourite to claim her first title in Paris.
