Senate Republicans Block Democrat Effort to Kill Trump Fund | TVJ News
A Democrat-led effort to formally kill President Donald Trump’s so-called anti-weaponization fund was rejected by Republicans in the Senate on Thursday.
The vote came at the start of what’s known as vote-a-rama, a marathon voting session that allows amendments to bills—in this case a $70 billion GOP immigration measure—before final passage.
The Democrats’ fund-killing effort failed 49 to 50, with three Republicans crossing party lines in the vote.
Many Republicans also want the proposed $1.8 billion fund shut down, but are wary of derailing the broader effort to pass the immigration enforcement bill.
