The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) has condemned the brazen act of vandalism perpetrated at the Biche Booster Station early on Tuesday morning, which led to a complete power failure at the facility.

WASA said the incident forced the Biche Booster Station offline at 6am, disrupting water supply to several communities.

The Authority noted that critical electrical wires were missing at the facility.

It said the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (T&TEC) was immediately notified of the damage and teams from both utilities are on the ground and working to repair the damaged electrical infrastructure and restore normal operations.

Due to the incident, residents in Charuma, Biche, Plum Mitan are currently experiencing low water pressure or interruptions in service.

The Authority is reminding that vandalism of public property is a criminal offence, and is urging citizens to respect public facilities and infrastructure, as acts of vandalism undermine WASA’s ability to provide reliable water and wastewater services.
