Riley, who was in South Florida over the weekend for the Caribbean American Unity Fest, was honoured by the city for his uplifting music, cultural impact, and commitment to empowering communities.

The singer was bestowed with a proclamation declaring June 5 as “Tarrus Riley Day” in the “We Care” city.

In a social media post, he said, “I’m grateful and aiming higher and higher every day… moments like these are fuel for my mind and my mission…”

The City of Lauderdale Lakes described Riley as one of reggae’s most respected and influential voices, adding that his headlining performance at the festival helped unite thousands in a celebration of Caribbean heritage, music, and culture.
