GUAVA GRAFTING [18TH JUNE 2026] – In a strategic effort to reduce Saint Lucia’s reliance on imported fruits and strengthen national food security, the Department of Agriculture has embarked on an initiative to equip local farmers with advanced grafting techniques aimed at increasing the production of a high-yield Taiwanese guava variety. The training programme is designed to help farmers cultivate a fruit that not only produces larger and more consistent harvests, but also boasts an extended shelf life, making it particularly attractive to supermarkets, hotels, and other commercial buyers.
