Saint Lucia’s lower house has passed a major new energy law to overhaul the island’s power sector. The legislation aims to steadily lessen the country’s risky reliance on fossil fuel-driven power generation.

Infrastructure Minister Shawn Edward declared that this modernized system is vital to secure the island’s economic future.
