(Rodney Bay, Saint Lucia – June 25, 2026) – More than one hundred students of the Aux Lyons Combined School participated in the « Reading + Math = Power » Literacy Fun Day on Friday, June 12, 2026, an educational initiative led by Miss. Republic OnBoard, Ms. Shernette Rameau, with support from Republic Bank St. Lucia.
The activity formed part of Ms. Rameau’s community initiative under the National Saint Lucia Carnival Queen Pageant, which requires this year’s contestants to design and implement projects that create a positive impact within their communities.
As a former student of the Aux Lyons Combined School and a Mathematics graduate, Rameau said the initiative was inspired by her passion for education and her desire to encourage students to develop a greater appreciation for mathematics and reading from an early age.

The event transformed learning into an engaging experience through a series of educational competitions and challenges designed to reinforce classroom concepts while encouraging teamwork, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Republic Bank St. Lucia partnered with Miss. Republic OnBoard to support the initiative as part of the Bank’s commitment to youth development, education, and community engagement.
For Ms. Rameau, the project represents more than a requirement of the Carnival Queen Pageant. She hopes the initiative will inspire students to approach learning with confidence and enthusiasm while demonstrating that mathematics can be both practical and enjoyable. She also expressed a desire to continue the programme beyond the competition and extend its reach to other schools and communities across Saint Lucia.
