With Diabetes, hypertension and heart disease continuing to pose significant public health challenges in Trinidad and Tobago, the Health and Nutrition Association of Trinidad and Tobago (HNATT) hosted a special campaign to empower consumers with the knowledge and skills needed to better understand nutrition labels, and make informed food choices.
President of the HNATT and registered dietitian Nandani Samuel, said the « Flip The Pack » Nutrition Label Awareness Campaign was launched one month ago, just in time for the start of Caribbean Nutrition month.
Ms Samuel highlighted the importance of the campaign as T&T continues to battle high levels of non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease.
With age comes wisdom, as one supermarket customer noted, as he got older, he began paying more attention to food labels.
HNATT will continue this campaign through the month of July.
