The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) continues to take collaborative steps to strengthen safety and security in the town of Soufriere, working closely with key stakeholders to address public safety concerns.
On June 11, 2026, members of the RSLPF High Command met with the Parliamentary Representative for Soufriere, Honourable Emma Hippolyte, representatives of the Soufriere accommodation sector, the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation, and civil society organizations during a key stakeholder engagement session. The meeting focused on the status of efforts to address security and safety issues affecting the town and the support being provided by the RSLPF to address them.
A major outcome of the engagement was the agreement to establish a multi-stakeholder working group dedicated to developing practical, coordinated, and sustainable solutions to crime and violence in the Soufriere area.
Building on this commitment, the newly formed working group convened its first official meeting on Tuesday, June 24, 2026, marking a significant step forward in the collaborative approach to community safety.
The working group brings together a broad cross-section of partners, including the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, the Soufriere Regional Development Foundation, the Ministries of Equity and Crime Prevention, Civil Society Organizations, and the National Youth Council.
Before the formal meeting, members of the working group conducted community walkthroughs in Palmiste, Market Road, and Baron’s Drive. These field engagements allowed stakeholders to interact directly with residents, listen to their concerns, and gain firsthand insight into the challenges affecting their daily lives and the improvements they wish to see in their communities.
Following the walkthroughs, stakeholders participated in a focused working session to translate community feedback into actionable strategies to address crime and enhance safety and quality of life in Soufriere. A comprehensive action plan is currently being developed and, once finalized, will be presented to the Commissioner of Police and Parliamentary Representative for Soufriere for review and support.
The next meeting of the working group is scheduled for July 14, 2026, as momentum continues toward implementing practical solutions driven by collaboration and community engagement.
Through continued partnership with stakeholders and residents, the RSLPF remains resolute in its mission to create a safer environment not just for the residents of Soufriere but also for all of Saint Lucia.
