TATT Expands Broadband Access To Underserved Communities - Navet The Latest To Benefit

The Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT) is expanding broadband access across the country through a partnership with RVR International Limited, bringing reliable internet connectivity to communities that have traditionally been underserved.
The broadband infrastructure initiative is helping to improve digital access nationwide, with significant progress already being made in several rural and remote areas.
Navet is the latest community to benefit from the initiative. Approximately 140 homes have been reached by the project, with nearly 50 already connected to broadband services.
Chairman of the TATT Board, Cris Seecheran, said similar work is continuing in communities such as Matelot and other areas where reliable internet access has long been a challenge.
“Just over a year ago, we celebrated the completion of broadband infrastructure in St John’s Parish in Tobago, connecting communities such as ‘L’Anse Fourmi, Bloody Bay and Parlatuvier.”
Minister of Public Administration and Artificial Intelligence, Dominic Smith, said access to connectivity should not be determined by geography but should be available to all citizens, regardless of where they live.
“The future of Trinidad and Tobago will not be built only in areas such as Port of Spain, Chaguanas, or San Fernando. It will be built in communities like Navet, Matelot, Toco, Moruga, and every corner of this great nation where people are ready to embrace new opportunities and shape their own success.”
The Minister explained that the initiative supports the Ministry’s broader objective of increasing technology adoption and narrowing the digital divide throughout Trinidad and Tobago.
“Communities that are connected are better positioned to educate their children, grow business, attract investment, and participate fully in national development. Communities that remain disconnected risk being left behind and, as a Ministry, it is our objective, our mission, our goal to leave no one behind.”
Minister Smith emphasised that improved broadband connectivity empowers citizens with greater access to opportunities, allowing them to enhance their quality of life while making meaningful contributions to the nation’s development.
