Two Jamaicans in Eswatini Say They Do Not Want To Return To Jamaica | TVJ News

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade says two of the three Jamaicans in Eswatini do not want to return to Jamaica at this time.
The three Jamaicans were sent to the Kingdom of Eswatini as part of the United States’ controversial third-country deportation programme.
The ministry said it made contact with two of the men after an initial phone call from one of them and his lawyer.
During the discussions, the men were advised of the Jamaican government’s readiness to assist with their return home. However, they maintained that they do not wish to return to Jamaica.
The ministry also said it has been unable to determine the men’s immigration status in the United States.
Efforts are continuing to contact the third Jamaican through Jamaica’s High Commission in South Africa.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade is encouraging Jamaicans in distress, or those requiring consular assistance overseas, to contact the nearest Jamaican embassy.
