MPSDFS Distributes Nearly TT$276,000 In Grants To MayaroRio Claro Families
The Ministry of the People, Social Development and Family Services (MPSDFS) has delivered Disaster General Assistance and Home Repair Grants valued at TT$275,956.00 to families in the Mayaro/Rio Claro region.
The distribution on Saturday marked the Ministry’s 37th Disaster General Assistance and Home Repair Grant distribution since the Government assumed office, reflecting its continued commitment to bringing timely assistance directly to communities while systematically clearing backlogs.
Addressing recipients, Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services Vandana Mohit reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to ensuring that vulnerable families receive timely assistance through a more responsive and accessible social support system.
« People cannot put their lives on hold while bureaucracy catches up. We have worked diligently to clear longstanding backlogs, improve access to assistance through initiatives such as the Revised Standard Means Test and ensure that support reaches families when they need it most. »
Nineteen households, representing 69 beneficiaries, received assistance through the Ministry’s Disaster General Assistance and Home Repair Grant programmes.
The assistance comprised:
• Thirteen Disaster General Assistance Grants benefiting 47 persons, totalling TT$124,506.00.
• Six Home Repair Grants benefiting 22 persons, totalling TT$151,450.00.
Minister Mohit reasserted that the distribution reflects the Ministry’s wider commitment to restoring confidence in public service and ensuring that no vulnerable citizen is left behind.

That is the commitment we will continue to honour as we work to strengthen families and communities throughout Trinidad and Tobago. »
Through initiatives such as the Disaster General Assistance and Home Repair Grant programmes, the Ministry remains committed to improving the quality of life of those it serves by ensuring assistance reaches vulnerable citizens in a timely and efficient manner.
