The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange is reporting significant growth in both market value and investor participation this year.
According to its CEO, Eva Mitchell, new figures showed gains in market capitalisation, trading activity and investor confidence during the first seven months of 2026.
« So far into 2026, the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange recorded a total market capitalisation of approximately $100.7 billion, representing an increase from $91.9 billion in January 2026. This reflects a gain of $8.8 billion, or 9.6% over the seven-month period. »
She said the T&T Stock Exchange continues to hold a dominant position within the region.
« The increase was supported by favourable market performance and the impact of corporate actions undertaken during that period. The Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange remains the largest stock exchange by market capitalisation in the Caribbean. »
Ms Mitchell pointed out that the TTSE also reported continued growth in its investor base.
« Investor participation has also continued to expand. The number of trading accounts has grown over the last three years by 8% overall, while growth in retail, in the retail segment, grew by 9% over the same period, demonstrating the continued expansion of our investor base and sustained confidence in the capital market. »
She added that retail investors became significantly more active during the year.
« During 2026, individual investor trades increased by 47% year-on-year, while individual trade and volume increased by 26%, highlighting stronger retail participation in the market. »
Institutional investors also contributed to stronger market activity.
« Institutional participation has also remained positive, with non-individual investor trades increasing by 27% and trading volume increasing by 15% when compared to the previous year. Together, these results demonstrate increasing confidence across both retail and institutional investors and contribute to the improved market liquidity. »
Ms Mitchell said the T&T Stock Exchange remains committed to creating an environment where businesses of every size can access capital, investors can participate in wealth creation, and the capital market continues to support national economic development.
