Just one month after the Miss World Trinidad and Tobago franchise launched its nationwide search for an exceptional young woman to carry the nation’s flag internationally, 20 delegates have emerged as finalists, each eager to embrace the platform, champion meaningful causes, and showcase the best of Trinidad and Tobago at the next Miss World pageant.
National Director of Miss World Trinidad and Tobago, Charu Lochan Dass, believes this year’s group of contestants may be the strongest the competition has seen to date.
« In two weeks, they’ve already transformed, so we’re looking forward to seeing what the three-month programme brings to them and to us, and we wait to see who the winner will be, who will emerge as the winner, but, whoever it is, we have a good feeling this year the representation of Trinidad and Tobago will be in great hands. »
Among the delegates is Isabella Thomas, representing Port of Spain.
Currently pursuing legal studies, she said the opportunity to represent Trinidad and Tobago on the global stage would be both an honour and a dream come true.
« It would really feel great to me representing Trinidad and Tobago. It’s something that’s very near to my heart. It’s something that I do in my day-to-day life. I’m very passionate about representing Trinidad and Tobago, keeping us on a global platform, pushing Trinidad and Tobago global. »
Also competing for the crown is Miss South Oropouche, Dr Anna-Lee Cadogan, who has stepped away from her medical practice and into the pageant spotlight.
« Representing our country would be a great privilege not just for my own personal growth, but it provides an opportunity for me to expand on something that I am very extremely passionate about, which is women’s health, specifically breast health, promoting early detection and screening and support for survivors of breast cancer. »
As preparations intensify ahead of the competition, the spotlight remains firmly on these 20 ambitious young women, each determined to make her mark and earn the chance to proudly represent Trinidad and Tobago at the next Miss World pageant.
