The Paul Bogle Highway is named in honour of The Right Excellent Paul Bogle, one of Jamaica’s National Heroes, whose unwavering fight for justice, equality, and the rights of ordinary Jamaicans helped shape the course of the nation’s history.
Stretching from Bull Bay Bridge to Morant Bay, this modern highway is more than a vital transportation corridor—it is a symbol of progress, resilience, and opportunity. As the largest road infrastructure investment in the history of St. Thomas, the highway is designed to improve connectivity, reduce travel times, enhance road safety, and support economic growth and sustainable development throughout the parish and eastern Jamaica.
The designation of the highway celebrates Paul Bogle’s enduring legacy while recognizing his profound contribution to Jamaica’s journey toward social justice and national identity. By connecting communities and improving access to businesses, services, tourism, and investment opportunities, the Paul Bogle Highway will serve generations to come as a lasting tribute to one of the nation’s greatest freedom fighters.
This landmark project reflects the Government of Jamaica’s continued commitment to modernizing the country’s transportation infrastructure, fostering economic development, and improving the quality of life for all Jamaicans while preserving the legacy of a true national hero.
