Attempted Contraband Drop At Port Of Spain Prison Foiled
An attempted contraband drop at the Port of Spain Prison was foiled early Tuesday morning when officers observed an unidentified man attempting to throw a package over the prison’s perimeter wall near the intersection of Gordon and Pembroke Streets.
The incident occurred around 6:45 a.m. when prison officers spotted a man, described as wearing a blue top and cream-coloured long pants, attempting to throw a package over the prison’s perimeter wall. As officers moved in, the suspect fled on foot with the package before it could enter the prison compound.
The Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service is reminding the public that trafficking, or attempting to traffic, prohibited items into or out of a prison is an offence under the Prisons Act and can result in arrest and prosecution.
