Amid recent drowning incidents, calls are again being made for beachgoers and river users to exercise caution when entering the water.

To beat the heat, many Jamaicans turn to rivers, pools and beaches for much-needed relief.
But while a dip in the water can be refreshing, it can also turn deadly.
Data from the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) shows that between 2020 and 2024, rivers and ponds consistently recorded the highest number of reported drowning deaths.
