In today’s airing of the Midday News…

The Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) is reporting that the economy is estimated to have contracted by 2.9 per cent during the April-to-June 2026 quarter.

The decline was recorded when compared with the corresponding period in 2025.

The figures were released a short while ago during the PIOJ’s quarterly economic briefing.
