In this segment, host Archibald Gordon meets Barb and Bill, a Florida couple who were targeted by a caller claiming Barb had won US$2 million and a car through Publishers Clearing House.
The couple describe how the scammer built a personal relationship with them, learned about their lives and repeatedly convinced them to send money. They eventually cashed investments, emptied savings and used credit cards in an attempt to receive the promised prize.
The documentary also introduces Norman, an 84-year-old victim who says he lost between US$400,000 and US$500,000, including his home and life savings, after being targeted by multiple scammers.
