From garbage and sewage to crumbling structures, leaking roofs and overcrowded homes, this documentary explores why people continue to live in these conditions despite the risks.
Residents share personal stories, including those who moved from rural Jamaica to downtown Kingston in search of employment and better opportunities, only to find themselves struggling to maintain basic living conditions.
The documentary also revisits tragedies involving collapsing buildings, including the June 2016 collapse on Wildman Street that left three people trapped, and another incident in 2017 where a child narrowly escaped death.
Why do people remain in these communities? What happens when there is nowhere else to go? And who is responsible for improving these conditions?
