36 schools across the Family Islands remain without principals, while promotions dating back to 2016 are still outstanding, according to Bahamas Educators Managerial Union (BEMU) President Stephen McPhee.

McPhee said 29 of the 36 schools without principals also lack substantive administrative staff, raising continued concerns about the management and administration of schools throughout the Family Islands.

Mchpee also said outstanding appointments and promotions are among several long-standing issues the Union has been seeking to resolve with education officials.

The latest developments follow a meeting last month involving BEMU representatives, officials from the Ministry of Education and Prime Minister Philip Davis. The discussions addressed concerns that have remained unresolved following industrial action taken by the Union.

The outstanding matters have been a source of concern for BEMU as it continues to press for resolutions to issues affecting its members.
