TTMS HURRICANE SEASON WARNING
The Atlantic hurricane season isn’t over yet, and Trinidad and Tobago is entering the critical period. The Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service is urging residents to act now, not later. We’re now in the fifth month of the season, which runs through November 30th. So far, the 2025 season has already seen nine named storms, with three intensifying into major hurricanes. That activity is near the long-term average of ten named storms and three major hurricanes by the end of September. The TTMS reminds everyone that the peak, which spans from mid-August to mid-October, is still very much here. Any tropical system forming in the wider Caribbean can pose a threat to the eastern Caribbean. Officials stress this is the time to finalise your emergency plans, secure your homes, and stock up on supplies. Don’t wait for an alert, watch, or warning to be issued.
