St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Opposition Leader Godwin Friday is laying out bold promises as the country gears up for elections expected later this year.

Dr. Friday says if his New Democratic Party (NDP) is elected, Vincentians will see major changes within the first 60 days.

Among his pledges are doubling public assistance, slashing VAT on everyday goods and residential electricity, awarding public servants a bonus salary, and reinstating workers fired under the government’s COVID-19 vaccine mandate.

The NDP is attaching timelines to its commitments to ensure accountability, contrasting what he called the “unfulfilled promises” of the Unity Labour Party.

Dr. Friday also pointed to rising food and utility prices, saying many families are being “crushed” by the cost-of-living crisis. The election must be held by February 2026, but polls are widely expected by November.
