Head Coach of the Trinidad and Tobago Senior Men’s Football Team, Dwight Yorke, says his future with the squad “is out of his control. »
His comments follow T&T’s elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after a 1-1 draw against Jamaica on Thursday.
The result leaves T&T in third place in Group B, ending their hopes of advancing.
When Yorke was appointed head coach in November 2024, Trinidad and Tobago Football Association President Kieron Edwards stated that his mandate was solely to lead T&T to the FIFA World Cup.
« I don’t really listen to the outside world. I’ve got the experience enough now, and there is always going to be some people who like what we do and some don’t. That’s out of my control. I have no control over that. What I can control, what is in front of me. My contract runs for another six months, I think it is, and I’m happy to see those six months out if required. It’s out of my control. People above my pay grade make those decisions, and, again, I’ve got no control over that. »
