Deputy Chief Secretary Dr. Faith Brebnor has urged Tobagonians to protect facilities being renovated by the Tobago House of Assembly.
Speaking at the recommissioning of the Glamorgan Multi-Purpose Facility on Thursday, Dr. Brebnor recounted an incident at the Whim Multi-Purpose Facility earlier this year which motivated her to make this admonition.
« The Whim Centre and the kind of vandalism and the kind of theft that happened there I saw that his heart was actually broken because it means that somebody decided that this wonderful facility was less than and it was open for them to go in and do whatever they wished with it. Glamorgan we better than that. Richmond we better than that. That absolutely cannot be the legacy of what happens at this facility. »
She implored communities to unite in protecting the renovated facility.
« If you see something you have to make sure you say something. If you see something you have to stand up. If you see something you have to speak up because this truly is yours. Use it to train, to teach, to develop, use it to dream. »
Secretary Brebnor, who served as the Area Representative for Belle Garden/Glamorgan, reflected on various programmes that were held, including procurement registration as well as business and résumé writing, which had to be held at the Belle Garden Multi-Purpose Facility. She noted that more can now be done in Glamorgan with the opening of this facility, which cost the Tobago House of Assembly approximately $3 million.
