August 2024 was the best on record for Antigua and Barbuda's tourism sector. Confirmation comes from the head of the country's Tourism Authority, Colin James, as officials point to the continued robust performance in both cruise and air arrivals. Caricom leaders have thrown their support behind the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS, ABAS, during their recent presentations at the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The ABAS was the outcome document from the fourth conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4), hosted by Antigua and Barbuda in May. It charts the course for the 39 SIDS around the world to achieve resilient prosperity over the next decade. Barbados’ Prime Minister, Mia Mottley and St Vincent and the Grenadines Prime Minister, Dr Ralph Gonsalves were among those who joined Prime Minister Hon. Gaston Browne in calling for global support for the 10-year framework.

One of these projects includes a decryption programme. This aims to teach soft skills such as communication and aims to reduce substance use and abuse.
