Police are awaiting a date for a post-mortem as they probe an officer-involved shooting which took place in the south earlier this week. The mother of the victim , a 19 year old from Castries ,complained during an interview with DBS News on Thursday , that up to that time ,she not received any explanation from the police regarding the circumstances under which her son was shot. The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College and Millennium Heights Medical Complex have signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This agreement will enable student nurses at SALCC to access the clinical facilities and resources of the island`s main health institution. The first fatal police shooting for the year has occurred in Vieux Fort. A teenager from Castries succumbed after being shot by officers attached to the Vieux Fort Police Station on Tuesday morning. According to the police, the incident occurred after officers responded to a call indicating that armed men wearing face masks were in the community of Bruceville. One man whose deceased mother lived in a CDC apartment is objecting to the recent actions of the National Housing Cooperation. He claims that personnel from the entity placed two padlocks on the apartment without warning. According to him , two relatives who reside in the structure are not able to access their belongings. Sections of the St Lucian society have responded to last week`s revelation by the Office of the Prime Minister regarding the unemployment rate on the island. According to a press release from the OPM , the unemployment rate for 2023 was 14% , while the figure for the previous year was 16.5%.The rate of unemployment in 2021 was 9%. The decline is being attributed to a number of major projects , including the Sandals La Toc expansion and upgrade ,the construction of Cabot Residences and the Cas-En-Bas Beach Resort.
