Five of the six victims of the Sydney shopping centre stabbing have been named as the public and loved ones pay tribute in Australia. Hundreds of shoppers were evacuated on Saturday afternoon when 40-year-old Joel Cauchi - believed to be the sole suspect - was shot dead by a female police officer as she approached him from behind, before he turned and lunged at her. Six people died and 12 others were injured, including a nine-month-old baby, after a series of stabbings at the Westfield Bondi Junction mall shopping centre near Bondi Beach. In an exclusive interview with ITV News, the Labour Party leader said a nuclear deterrence "only works if there is a preparedness to use it". In a dramatic shift from his predecessor Jeremy Corbyn, whose ambition was to see a nuclear-free world, and some Labour frontbenchers who previously voted to scrap Trident, Sir Keir today outlined plans to use the UK's nuclear deterrent as the "bedrock" of his plans to keep Britain safe. Sir Keir also announced he would be willing to ramp up defence spending to 2.5% of GDP when the economy allows, and focus on increasing jobs and skills in the sector. Former NFL star OJ Simpson has died at the age of 76, his family has announced. In a post via his official account on X, formerly known as Twitter, his family said: "On April 10th, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer. "He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. "During this time of transition, his family asks that you please respect their wishes for privacy and grace." Simpson was a running back for the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers, before being acquitted of murder in a trial in the mid-1990s and later he served jail time for an armed robbery. A senior Post Office executive was told by an independent investigator that an innocent sub-postmaster had been wrongly imprisoned without “any evidence”, six years before his conviction was finally quashed. A secret recording obtained by ITV News has revealed Angela Van Den Bogerd, former Head of Partnerships at the Post Office, was told in January 2015 that the organisation had “materially misled” the courts in prosecuting Carl Page - a sub-postmaster from Staffordshire. She was a key figure in the Post Office scandal and gave evidence to Parliament in February 2015 alongside then-Chief Executive Paula Vennells. British medics working in Gaza have described their "humbling" experiences of working to save the lives of innocent civilians in an active warzone. ITV News filmed with some of those offering their services in a field hospital to the south of the Gaza Strip, which is being run by the British-based charity UK-Med. The hospital is home to one of the few functioning operating theatres in the territory and includes Jay Matthews, a theatre nurse from Surrey, as one of its volunteers. "There are explosions, gunfire, smoke," he told ITV News. "It's pretty constant. I think last night we had a drone over our heads for maybe four or five hours. It's very obvious." Patients suffering a mental health crisis in England are twice as likely to wait more than 12 hours in A&E, ITV News can reveal. Figures obtained by the Royal College of Emergency Medicine and shared exclusively with ITV News show mental health patients are disproportionately impacted by A&E delays, with one-in-four mental health patients had long waits in 2023, compared to one-in-ten of all other patients. While prolonged waits for all patients decreased slightly, the proportion of mental health patients waiting 12 hours to be admitted surged to an all time high of 23%.
