Nearly 14,000 farmers have been allowed to gather at the Punjab-Haryana Shambhu border with 1,200 tractor trolleys, 300 cars and 10 mini-buses and other vehicles by the Punjab Police on Wednesday, according to sources. Meanwhile, the Haryana Police has urged its Punjab counterparts to seize bulldozers and other earthmoving equipment from the Shambhu border, citing law and order concerns. The Punjab Police has also been asked to make sure mediapersons stay one kilometre away from the border. The Haryana Police further stated that it will impound such vehicles if they are used by protesting farmers to break the barricades at the border. "It is reliably learnt that heavy earthmoving equipment, including proclain (digger), JCB etc., that have been further modified/armour-plated have been acquired by protesting farmers and have been deployed at the border locations where the protesters are camping right now," the letter written by the Haryana DGP stated. "These machines are meant to be used by the protesters to damage the barricades thereby posing serious danger to the police and paramilitary forces deployed on duty and are likely to compromise the security scenario in Haryana," it said. In the meantime, the Ambala police have lodged an FIR against two unidentified heavy machinery drivers, relying on videos and photographs as evidence. #farmersprotest #farmersstrike #farmerprotestnews #farmerprotestlive #indiatoday #indiatodaylive Subscribe to India Today for NEW VIDEOS EVERY DAY and make sure to enable Push Notifications so you'll never miss a new video. Two speakers discuss the ongoing Punjab farmers protests in India, highlighting the nationwide importance of the agrarian crisis. They debate the tendency to identify this mainly as a Sikh farmers issue and the prevalence of labeling them as Khalistanis. The discussion further delves into the context of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops, especially wheat and paddy, that Punjab farmers are fighting for, emphasizing that this struggle represents the interests of farmers across the entire country. The speakers fear the harm of such narratives on the Sikh community. #PunjabFarmers #Sikh #AgrarianCrisis #FarmersProtest #IndiaAgriculture Subscribe to India Today for NEW VIDEOS EVERY DAY and make sure to enable Push Notifications so you'll never miss a new video. In a heated debate, speakers discussed the growing distrust between the Modi Government and the farmers of Punjab. They delved into the reasons for the farmer protests being concentrated in Punjab. Indices of the Modi government's effectiveness were called into question, especially regarding the treatment of Sikh groups. An integral part of this discussion was the Minimum Support Price (MSP) legal guarantee, a long-standing demand of the farmers, particularly as the country heads to the polls. The speakers highlighted the potential political agenda behind the timing of these protests. Speculation around the issue indicates a potential vulnerability of the government, with demands for MSP guarantees intensifying ahead of the elections. However, the responses from the speakers present reinforced the notion that this demand is a long-standing one, dating back nearly two decades. The contentious MSP issue, increasingly becoming a political tool, requires urgent attention, as farmers continue to face economic struggles. The debate also touched upon the impact of identities being assigned to protesting farmers, delving into how the farmers — predominantly Sikhs in Punjab — are being perceived and labeled. #ModiGovernment #PunjabFarmers #FarmerProtests #MSP #SikhFarmers #AgrarianCrisis #delhichalomarch #rajdeepsardesai #newstoday Subscribe to India Today for NEW VIDEOS EVERY DAY and make sure to enable Push Notifications so you'll never miss a new video. Farmers, particularly from Punjab, are protesting for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) promised by the government. This issue has emerged weeks ahead of the general election, fueling debates across different parties like BJP, Congress, and AAP. The interviewee implies that the timing is intentional, calling for governments to deliver on their promises and 'walk the talk'. Notably, the AAP government in Delhi seemed to have made notable strides by promising farmers 1.5 times the cost MSP. #FarmersProtest #PunjabFarmers #MSPDemands #GeneralElection #GovernmentPromises #AAP #BJP #Congress Subscribe to India Today for NEW VIDEOS EVERY DAY and make sure to enable Push Notifications so you'll never miss a new video. Well, is it time to write Bazball's obituary? It seems so as Ben Stokes's led touring side was hammered by 434 runs, their biggest margin of defeat since World War II, in Rajkot. It was a proper statement from Rohit Sharma and his men as England failed to walk the talk. Despite the defeat, Ben Stokes was bullish that England will not change their approach. He labeled criticism, some of them constructive, as 'outside noise'. Head coach Brendon McCullum echoed the thoughts of Stokes, saying that it's up to them whether or not to listen to what people are saying about their approach. Both Stokes and McCullum said England are capable of bouncing back and beating India 3-2. Are they? Cricket is a game of uncertainty. No team, especially in Test cricket, can be ruled out. However, England are looking to throw punches in the dark. More importantly, some of the comments from England players have done very little to deflect the criticism that is coming their way. Ben Duckett was slammed saying that double-centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal was inspired by Bazball in the second innings in Rajkot, and rightly so. After saying England is capable of even chasing 600, they folded for 122 in Rajkot. Can England walk the talk, at least in Rajkot? They can, if they learn from Malayalam superstar Mammootty, says one of his biggest fans, Alan Jose John. Alan is joined by Akshay Ramesh and Saurabh Kumar as they discuss England's horror show in Rajkot in the latest episode of Sledging Room Podcast. Tune in! Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday courted controversy as he took a veiled jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency, saying he "saw people lying on the road after drinking alcohol". Addressing a rally in his former constituency Amethi during the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Rahul Gandhi claimed that the "future of Uttar Pradesh is dancing" with people drinking alcohol at night. I went to Varanasi and I saw that instruments are being played at night. I saw people lying on the road after drinking alcohol. The future of Uttar Pradesh is dancing after drinking alcohol at night," he said. "On the other side, there is the Ram Temple in which PM Modi will be seen and Ambani and Adani will be seen. You will see all the billionaires of India but not a single backward or Dalit person will be seen," he added. In response, Union Minister and BJP MP from Amethi, Smriti Irani, slammed Rahul Gandhi for his objectionable remarks and questioned his upbringing. "Rahul Gandhi's remarks show how much venom he has in his mind for Uttar Pradesh. He made objectionable comments against the voters of Uttar Pradesh in Wayanad. He rejected the invitation to the 'Pran Pratishtha' ceremony at the Ram Temple. Today (Tuesday), he has made objectionable remarks about Varanasi and the young people of Uttar Pradesh," she said. "Congress's future is in darkness but Uttar Pradesh's future is moving towards development. It is my advice to Sonia Gandhi that if she cannot give a good upbringing to her son, then at least ask him not to comment," Irani further said #rahulgandhi #rahulgandhinews #amethi #smritiirani #indiatoday #indiatodaylive #nyayayatra #rahulgandhi #bjp #congress #bjpvscongress #varanasi Subscribe to India Today for NEW VIDEOS EVERY DAY and make sure to enable Push Notifications so you'll never miss a new video.
