Reporter Ian Woods has reacted to the latest news that King Charles will return to public-facing duties after responding well to cancer treatment. “It is great news, but you have got to remember he still has cancer and he still is being treated for cancer, so it is very much one step at a time,” Mr Woods said. “The only events that Buckingham Place have confirmed so far are a visit next Tuesday to a cancer treatment centre here in the UK and he's going to be hosting the emperor and the empress of Japan in June. “So those are the only two official visits.” Buckingham Palace announced on Friday night Charles would resume royal duties. "His majesty is greatly encouraged to be resuming some public-facing duties and very grateful to his medical team for their continued care and expertise,” the palace's statement read.

Meghan Markle reportedly snubbed the King’s coronation invitation because she was unimpressed with the Royal Family’s reaction to the bombshell allegations made during her explosive Oprah Winfrey interview.  Sky News contributor Emily Carver says this is “quite incredible”.  “For to potentially have snubbed this simply because she wasn’t happy with the King’s response to what was a pretty awful interview,” Ms Carver told Sky News host Danica De Giorgio.  “This woman clearly has no deference, no sense of authority, no sense of duty, no sense of how to communicate with the family.  “She clearly feels like she was not heard enough.”

Sky News Political Reporter Cam Reddin says the Liberal National Party in Queensland is looking “more and more likely” to form government in the state in October. Mr Reddin’s comments come after a new poll showed Labor’s support has dropped, while the LNP’s support has risen. “56 – 44 is the two-party preferred in the YouGov poll today,” Mr Reddin told Sky News host Erin Molan. “It’s looking more and more likely that the Liberal Party, the LNP will form government in October. “Kind of struggling to find too many people that think Steven Miles will hang on.”

Former Australian prime minister Scott Morrison has revealed “the personal toll” he carried while leading the nation through the COVID pandemic, says Sky News political reporter Cam Reddin. Mr Reddin said this comes as Mr Morrison has “got a new book coming out”. “Not your traditional political memoir, much more a reflection on his faith and how his faith, his Christian faith, shaped him as a leader throughout the time in public life including when he was prime Minister,” Mr Reddin told Sky News host Erin Molan. “As a part of that today and the Australian newspaper revealing some of the personal toll that he carried while leading the nation through the COVID pandemic – noting that he had suffered from anxiety, speaking quite openly about his own battle with the black dog, that he sought professional help, ultimately was prescribed medication to deal with that. “It is a reminder that it doesn’t matter if you’re a miner, a baker, a teacher or the prime minister you can still have personal deep mental health challenges.”

Sky News Digital Editor Jack Houghton has criticised Australian politicians who went into a “complete meltdown” after X owner Elon Musk refused to take down a video of a violent stabbing. eSafety commissioner Julie Inman Grant took X to court after she issued an order to have videos and images of the violent attack removed from the internet, but the platform did not comply. X has restricted the video in Australia; however, government lawyers argued the video can still be viewed overseas or domestically via a Virtual Private Network (VPN). Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek and Senator Jacqui Lambie both hit out at X and its owner over their decision. The Prime Minister also called out the billionaire’s “ego”. The main victim of the stabbing, Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel, came out after the alleged attack to say he is “not against” the video remaining on social media. “When the primary victim in the case doesn’t want it censored, what on earth are these politicians doing?” Mr Houghton said.

Centre for Independent Studies Indigenous Forum Director Warren Mundine says Labor governments are “going down this path” of “wasting money” on state-based treaties. Mr Munding said they are “not giving any practical outcomes” that will help people. “These Labor governments are going down this path, wasting money and not giving any practical outcomes that will help people have longer lives, give jobs and get their kids to school and have housing,” he told Sky News Danica De Giorgio. “Total waste of time. “South Australia only ten per cent of Aboriginals voted … in Victoria with only seven per cent of Aboriginals voted.”

The latest YouGov polling for the Courier Mail has revealed a “very grim outlook” for the Miles government in Queensland, according to Sky News host Steve Price. He says Labor, on these numbers, could be on track to lose at least “21 seats” in the October election. “Clearly things you would think will tighten up before polling day,” Mr Price said. “It seems after a love affair with Labor, Queenslanders are really ready for a change.” Mr Price was joined by former Queensland premier Campbell Newman to discuss the upcoming Queensland election.

Former Queensland premier Campbell Newman has taken aim at the Queensland Miles government, labelling them as “incompetent”. Mr Newman’s comments come after a recent YouGov poll for the Courier Mail showed the Liberal National Party ahead in two-party preferred. “This is the first poll I’ve seen in nine years since my government was voted out where the LNP actually do look like winning,” Mr Newman told Sky News host Steve Price. “That is very encouraging because we need to have a change. “We need to get rid of this absolutely incompetent government and a nincompoop of a premier.”

Anthony Albanese not taking terror threats seriously “shows weakness” on the Prime Minister, according to security expert Lincoln Parker. Mr Parker’s remarks come after NSW Police undertook a sweeping counter-terrorism operation across Sydney. Five of those arrested have been charged with terrorism and extremism offences. Meanwhile, ASIO boss Mike Burgess said this week there’s a 50 per cent chance of a terrorist attack in the next year. “It shows weakness on the part of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese when he’s not taking these threats seriously and, at the same time, we’re getting a rise in threat level,” Mr Parker told Sky News host Erin Molan.

Sky News host Steve Price has urged Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan to “dump” Energy and Resources Minister Lily D'Ambrosio after she flagged Indigenous wealth-sharing plans. The Victorian government has announced Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the state will receive profits from renewable energy projects on their Traditional Land. Ms D'Ambrosio claimed “very little” of the Victorian mining revenue royalties had been given to Aboriginal communities. “Victoria has an Energy Minister who wants to ban gas and penalise future renewable investment by imposing treaty payments that benefit only one part of the community,” Mr Price said. “Investors, local landowners and property landlords are filthy, but apparently, she doesn't care about the damage she is doing. “Victoria has a state budget on Tuesday week, and Premier Jacinta Allan has a great opportunity after that budget for a ministerial reshuffle. “She could do worse than dumping Minister D'Ambrosio before she does any more damage.”
