The national Agricultural Research Labolatories in Kawanda has held a scientific review conference aimed at taking stock of its contributions to sicio-economic transformation of the country. Ministry of Local Government on corruption during recruitment - Involved officials risk termination.
The Minister of state for Local government Victoria Businge Lusoke has warned the district service commissions to end the rampant corruption in the recruitment process. She said this during the 16th Annual general meeting with the Association of local government service commissions in Uganda.
The Deputy Speaker of Parliament Thomas Tayebwa has urged the newly appointed Leadership of sectoral committees to build teamwork through transparency and ownership of their work. Tayebwa was addressing a one-day orientation of the new designated chairpersons of different sectoral committees. In the same meeting the Deputy Speaker also reminded the leadership how their roles and duties of oversight should be a mandate in fighting corruption.
To reduce the prolonged case backlog and ensure that justice prevails within the shortest possible time, the Judiciary is set to conduct a one-week session utilizing the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism. This session will take place from August 5th to 9th, 2024, and will include cases from the Land, Civil, Magistrates, Court of Appeal, and Constitutional courts.

Edith Nakalema, head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, has met with youth leaders to discuss strategies for combating this pervasive issue. A key highlight of the meeting was Nakalema’s pledge to secure the release of youths arrested during recent anti-corruption protests in Kampala.
