Minister of National Security, Wayne Munroe, says that he would expect the United States to be “very receptive” to help The Bahamas receive the best deal for a new Bahamas Department of Correctional Services (BDOCS) facility - “which is being largely built by an American firm”.

His comments comes after U.S. Ambassador to The Bahamas, Herschel Walker, expressed concerns last week about The Bahamas’ deal with China’s Export-Import Bank for a new specialty hospital in Western New Providence.

As debate intensifies over the government’s proposed specialty hospital in western New Providence, former Health Minister Dr. Duane Sands is sharply criticizing the Davis administration’s decision to borrow $195 million from the China Export-Import Bank to fund the project.
