La ministra de Defensa, Margarita Robles, ha viajado a Málaga para visitar el buque Méndez Núñez, con una dotación de 230 personas, 48 de ellas mujeres. Esta fragata de la clase F-100 está integrada desde el pasado 18 de agosto en la misión Noble Shield de la Alianza Atlántica, que finalizará el próximo día 22 con la llegada a su base en el Arsenal Militar de Ferrol. Las agrupaciones navales permanentes, que incluyen los grupos de escoltas y los de cazaminas, son las fuerzas que proporcionan una presencia marítima permanente a la OTAN, y son las primeras que se activan, incluso antes de que se declare una crisis. España participa desde 2023. Sus zonas clave de actuación son el Mediterráneo, Mar Negro, Báltico, Flanco Norte, Corredor Sur (del Estrecho de Ormuz al Canal de Suez, incluyendo las costas de Somalia). Llevan a cabo despliegues fuera de área en zonas de interés de la Alianza como el Golfo de Guinea. Durante estos cuatro meses la Méndez Núñez ha sido, junto con el buque de mando, la unidad que más tiempo ha permanecido en este semestre, demostrando el compromiso de España con la OTAN. En su despliegue, ha estado integrada con unidades del Reino Unido, Turquía, Italia, Francia, Grecia, Dinamarca y con el buque de aprovisionamiento de combate español Patiño. Durante 96 días en el mar ha llevado a cabo interacciones con 11 buques rusos y otros 17 de bandera, origen o destino Rusia. En ese periodo ejerció como buque de mando 21 días. Seit Wochen greifen jemenitische Huthi-Milizionäre Schiffe in der Meerenge Bab-al-Mandeb zwischen Rotem Meer und Golf von Aden an - zuletzt mit Drohnen. Mit einer spektakulär inszenierten Aktion hatten sie einen Frachter gekapert, der seitdem in der Hand der Islamisten ist. Der letzte Vorfall ereignete sich während eines Besuchs von US-Verteidigungsminister Lloyd Austin in Bahrain. Austin wollte dem US-Verteidigungsministerium zufolge über mögliche "multilaterale Koalitionen als Reaktion auf die Aggression auf See" sprechen, die "den Schiffsverkehr und die Weltwirtschaft" bedrohten. In den vergangenen Tagen hatten britische und US-Schiffe nach Angaben der jeweiligen Regierungen mehrere Kampfdrohnen abgeschossen, die aus von den Huthis kontrolliertem Gebiet im Jemen abgeschossen worden seien. Seit Beginn des Kriegs zwischen Israel und der Terrororganisation Hamas hat die dem Iran nahestehende Huthi-Miliz wiederholt auch Israel mit Drohnen und Raketen angegriffen. Im Roten Meer drohen sie, jedes Schiff auf dem Weg nach Israel anzugreifen, solange nicht der Transport von mehr Lebensmitteln und Medikamenten in den Gazastreifen erlaubt wird. Das Rote Meer ist eine wichtige Route für den internationalen Handel mit Ziel Suez-Kanal und Mittelmeer. Tausende Schiffe passieren jedes Jahr die Meerenge zwischen dem Jemen an der südwestlichen Spitze der Arabischen Halbinsel und dem Horn von Afrika. Große Reedereien hatten in den vergangenen Tagen bekanntgegeben, dass sie ab sofort mit ihren Schiffen nicht mehr durch die Meerenge Bab-el-Mandeb fahren werden. Die deutsche Reederei Hapag-Lloyd fährt nicht mehr durch den Suez-Kanal und durch das Rote Meer. Allein bis Jahresende betrifft das einem Sprecher zufolge ungefähr 25 Schiffe. Am Freitag war auf einem Frachter der Reederei ein Geschoss eingeschlagen, das einen Brand auslöste. Der britische Energieriese BP setzt wegen der jüngsten Angriffe seine Öllieferungen durch das Rote Meer vorerst aus. Der Konzern sprach von einer sich verschlechternden Sicherheitslage, wie die BBC berichtete. Nach der Entscheidung legten die weltweiten Ölpreise zu. Wie gefährlich sind die Huthi? Le secrétaire américain à la Défense Lloyd Austin a déclaré que plusieurs pays avaient accepté d'effectuer des patrouilles conjointes dans le sud de la mer Rouge et dans le golfe d'Aden, pour essayer de protéger le commerce maritime contre les attaques des rebelles houthis. En réponse, le groupe a déclaré à Al Jazeera qu'il serait capable de faire face à toute coalition formée par les États-Unis qui pourrait être déployée en mer Rouge. Un porte-parole du groupe a indiqué que les bateaux naviguant en mer Rouge et en mer d'Arabie étaient en sécurité à l'exception de ceux appartenant à Israël. Cela intervient après que les Houthis du Yémen ont annoncé qu'ils avaient attaqué deux autres navires en mer Rouge. Des sociétés de transport maritime venant notamment du Royaume-Uni, d'Allemagne et de Norvège ont annoncé qu'elles suspendaient les transits par la mer Rouge, ce qui devrait avoir un impact sur le Canal de Suez, et pourrait perturber la chaîne d'approvisionnement mondiale.
