ALTA Open Day 2026: Helping Adults Build Essential Literacy Skills
On International Literacy Day 2026, the Adult Literacy Tutors Association (ALTA), in partnership with the National Library and Information System Authority (NALIS), is hosting its annual ALTA Open Day, offering persons aged 16 and over the opportunity to register for free reading and spelling classes at 12 NALIS public libraries across Trinidad.
ALTA CEO Arlene Wallace-Romero joins Virmala to discuss the importance of adult literacy, the impact improved reading and writing skills can have on confidence and independence, and how the organisation continues to help adults overcome barriers to literacy.
