ILLICIT PESTICIDE TRADE [7TH AUGUST 2026] – Saint Lucia’s pesticide regulators are intensifying enforcement as the illegal trade in unapproved chemicals reaches record levels. The Pesticides and Toxic Chemicals Control Board warns that illicit imports and chemical misuse threaten public health, soil quality, and the local food supply. Registrar Dr. Cletus Alexander says failure to curb the practice could cause serious and lasting damage to the island’s agricultural sector. Phoebe Popo Reports
