Minister of Agriculture & Marine Resources, Jomo Campbell, announcing today that, for the first time in the country’s history, citations will be issued to persons who violate regulations under the Animal Protection & Control Act.
The announcement comes amid recent cases of dog attacks and animal abuse that have shocked the nation.
An amnesty period from September 1–30 has been granted to allow animal owners time to ensure they are complying with the law.
Owners are being urged to license their animals, ensure animals are properly cared for and provide adequate shelter and meet other requirements under the Act.
