A $26 million fuel revenue shortfall is raising questions about the government’s ability to ease the burden on consumers as global oil prices climb. Opposition Leader Allen Chastanet is challenging the government’s explanation and questioning whether adjustments to fuel excise taxes could provide relief instead of passing higher costs on to the public. He warns that rising fuel and cooking gas prices could also drive up costs across the wider economy.
