Halkitis On No-bid Contracts
Amid public concerns over the number of no-bid contracts awarded by the government and whether taxpayers are receiving proper value, Minister of Finance Michael Halkitis says “something becomes wrong when the government doesn’t get value for money.”
Halkitis also noted that while 25% of government contracts were awarded without bids, 75% went through the competitive bidding process. Non-bid contracts are awarded without competition, while bid contracts are competitively tendered.
