For the first time, a Tobagonian has been elected as the Second Vice District Governor of the Lions Club International.
This position is the third highest in command of one of the world’s largest volunteer service organisations.
The Scarborough Upper Lions Club celebrated this historic achievement while also installing their new President and Board on Saturday.
Members of the club were ecstatic as they celebrated Lion Claire Davidson-Williams being elected Second Vice District Governor of Lions Clubs International.
She said, « I am deeply humbled and sincerely grateful for the many congratulatory messages I just received. »
This is the first time a Tobagonian has ever been elected to serve in such a position in one of the world’s largest volunteer organisations.
Mrs Davidson-Williams pledged to keep raising the bar in service delivery for communities in Tobago and around the world.
« I accept this responsibility with humility and steadfast commitment to serve. I see this opportunity not just as a personal achievement but as a call to work alongside you, my fellow Lions, in upholding the values of Lions Club International. »
The Lions Club is estimated to have 1.4 million members across 210 countries around the world.
