Minister of Homeland Security Roger Alexander has announced a major plan to strengthen and modernise the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, describing the move as a critical national security intervention aimed at addressing evolving criminal threats and restoring operational balance within the service.

In a statement in Parliament, he said the initiative will increase the TTPS’ sanctioned strength from 7,884 to 10,200 officers over five years, allowing for greater police visibility, faster response times, and enhanced investigative and specialist capacity.
