It Is the First Fiscal Surplus Recorded in an Independent Bahamas
The Bahamas recorded a fiscal surplus in June, with total revenue for the 2025/2026 fiscal year increasing by 16.6% compared to the previous year, Prime Minister Philip Davis announcing in the House of Assembly on Wednesday.
Davis credited improved revenue collection and compliance for the surplus, noting that the government continues to invest in public services and infrastructure.
He also claimed that no previous government of an independent Bahamas has recorded a fiscal surplus.
