Lynes: “This Can Move You From a Tax Exempt Bracket Into Property Tax Fees You Cannot Afford”
During the 2026/2027 Budget Debate in the Senate this morning, Progressive Liberal Party Senator Robyn Lynes said that rising property values can push homeowners into higher property tax brackets, even when their income has not increased. She called for a more equitable system that considers a Bahamian’s income and ability to pay, particularly for seniors, retirees, persons with disabilities, and families facing financial hardship.
