Nearly 50 Bahamians Stuck for Hours Aboard Diverted Copa Airlines Flight

What was supposed to be a routine flight to Panama turned into a multi-hour long ordeal for nearly 50 Bahamians after their Copa Airlines flight was diverted to Colombia following an earthquake in Panama.
Passenger Nadia Lewis told Our News that the aircraft circled for almost an hour before landing in Colombia, where passengers were kept on board for eight to nine hours while awaiting clearance from immigration officials.
Lewis says the long wait left passengers without water and ice, but with assistance from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they were able to secure boarding passes for a flight to Panama.
