Tensions flared in the House as Angela Brown Burke, MP for St Andrew South Western, was suspended from Parliament after a confrontation involving the ceremonial mace during debate on the NaRRA Bill.
House Speaker Juliet Holness ruled the actions breached parliamentary rules, stressing the mace must never be used in protest. Prime Minister Andrew Holness later urged calm and called for members to preserve the dignity of the House.
Proceedings were briefly suspended before debate resumed.
