News Bite: NWC announces Water Restrictions
💧 WATER RESTRICTIONS TAKE EFFECT AUGUST 17
The National Water Commission is imposing water prohibition orders in seven parishes from Monday, August 17, amid critically low rainfall and high temperatures.
📍 Kingston | St Andrew | St Thomas | St Mary | Portland | St Ann | St Catherine
The restrictions prohibit non-essential use of NWC-supplied water, including:
🚫 Watering lawns and gardens
🚫 Filling swimming pools
🚫 Washing vehicles with hoses
🚫 Washing roads, pavements and garages
⚠️ Sanctions will be imposed for breaches, with the Government also considering stiffer penalties.
Authorities say the measures are necessary to protect Jamaica鈥檚 water supply and ensure adequate supplies for critical services, including schools.
