Nia Jay: “My World Went Down in That Plane”
Da Pond Band lead singer Shenia Roberts reflected on the moment she learned that the plane carrying her bandmates had crashed in Andros, claiming the lives of all 10 people on board. Roberts said she had travelled ahead of the group and was waiting for their arrival, after speaking with them until shortly before the flight.
Among the five killed in the crash were her bandmates: Giovanni McKenzie, Rashad Storr, Mateo Winder, Toniquea Gilot, and Tra’vis Johnson. This would have been the band’s first time accompanying her to Andros for her to perform as “Nia Jay.”
