Nicholas Pooran stole the show in the Hundred opener, with a blistering 19-ball 50, blowing Sunrisers Leeds away as MI London began their title defence with a seven-wicket win.

Chasing 144, MI London were cruising, but it was Nicholas Pooran who turned the chase into a party. He smashed five fours and five sixes, reaching his half-century off just 19 balls, as he and Sam Curran put on 93 runs in only 40 balls together.

Pooran finished unbeaten on 58; Curran, unbeaten on 60, sealed victory with 16 balls to spare.

Earlier, Richard Gleeson took four wickets and Curran two, bowling Sunrisers Leeds out for 143 despite Mitchell Marsh’s 41.

For MI London, formerly the Oval Invincibles, it is a fourth straight men’s title defence underway.
