Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar says her government will not tolerate any attempts to intimidate or interfere with the Director of Public Prosecutions or his staff.
In a statement on Thursday, she praised the Police Service for swiftly securing the DPP’s office and protecting staff during a protest on Wednesday.
The Prime Minister condemned actions aimed at inciting hostility against law enforcement and warned that such behavior could lead to violence. She also blamed the Opposition PNM for encouraging anti-police sentiment.
Mrs. Persad-Bissessar reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to upholding the rule of law, pledging continued support and protection for police officers and prosecutorial officials.
